Man crashes automobile into restaurant, grabs deputy's rifle throughout arrest

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A person crashed his automobile right into a restaurant and grabbed an Eaton County deputy’s rifle throughout his arrest.

The crash occurred at IPOT, a scorching pot BBQ and sushi buffet, positioned at 730 Elmwood Rd. in Lansing at round 10:00 p.m.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Workplace experiences that the motive force, an roughly 40-year-old man from Lansing, threatened deputies once they arrived on the scene. He claimed to have a bomb, firearms and physique armor within the automobile. The person grabbed an Eaton County deputy’s rifle throughout the arrest and, “got a pretty good hold of it.” Deputies obtained the weapon away from him and introduced him into custody.

The person is suspected of driving underneath the affect.

The automobile crashed into the entrance left facet of the constructing, breaking by means of the outside wall and window. Nobody contained in the constructing was injured throughout the crash.

“I was definitely surprised, that’s for sure. We haven’t even been open for a month and then this happens out of nowhere,” stated Austin Dong, part-owner of IPOT.

Regardless of the crash, Dong remains to be optimistic, “We are hopeful that we can resume operations while construction is being done.”
