The 28-year-old County Donegal girl had been raped and strangled, a autopsy examination discovered.
In an announcement, Ms McLaughlin’s mom and a sister stated justice had “finally been achieved”.
“There was no other suspect or gang involved in Danielle’s death and (Vikat) Bhagat was solely responsible for cruelly ending her beautiful life,” they stated.
“We’ve got endured what has been successfully an eight-year homicide trial with many delays and issues, proper till the top, all happening 1000’s of miles away from Danielle’s residence.
“We are content now with the judicial confirmation in public of what we already sadly knew. What further legal processes now take place we will observe.”
Eire’s deputy premier, Simon Harris, paid tribute to her mom Andrea Brannigan for what he referred to as her “determination and resilience” and stated he hoped the decision “represents some closure for the family”.
Danielle had travelled to the southern Indian state with a feminine Australian good friend, and the pair have been staying in a seashore hut.
They’d been celebrating Holi – the Hindu spring pageant of colors – at a close-by village.
