Man makes false bomb risk at Lake Lansing Meijer, police say

Man makes false bomb risk at Lake Lansing Meijer, police say

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A person was arrested Monday evening after police say he made a false bomb risk on the Lake Lansing Meijer after makes an attempt to deal with an alleged assault on a toddler escalated.

In line with a press release from the East Lansing Police Division, officers had been flagged down by the person and Meijer staff within the car parking zone. Police say the person then grew to become aggressive and verbally threatened the officers.

Officers tried to detain the person, however failed, resulting in using a taser. Whereas the person was being arrested, police say the person instructed them he had a bomb in his automobile. ELPD officers took precautions by directing Meijer prospects and staff to the again of the shop, away from the car parking zone.

When police searched the person’s automobile, a police K9 indicated that there was a possible concern, and the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was referred to as to the scene.

MSP didn’t discover any bombs, however they did discover fireworks. As such, police deemed the bomb risk false.

After being arrested, the person instructed police he was suicidal. He’s at present being held on possible trigger associated to resisting and obstructing—a felony. Further prices could also be added by the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Workplace after assessment.

The person is awaiting a proper arraignment and is at present present process a psychological well being analysis at a neighborhood medical facility.
