Man worries for creek flooding close to dwelling

DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich.(WLNS)— April showers are bringing greater than flowers to components of mid-Michigan, and flooding is an enormous situation proper now, particularly for owners. 

6 Information spoke to individuals who say Delta Township has been getting hit fairly onerous from heavy rain the previous few weeks. 

Harris Edwards Jr. says his dwelling close to a creek is vulnerable to flooding, and he’s uninterested in it. 

“And this was nowhere near the worse. I mean, we’ve had water literally cross all the way to my neighbor’s yard to mine,” said Edwards. “Right behind me. Water would go all the way to his driveway and into his house.”

Edwards says his dwelling was constructed on prime of a creek, and his yard and basement flood very often. 

“I’ve spent a good 10 grand in our basement over the years trying to beat the water issue,” said Edwards. “I’ve been told by the drain commissioner that the water comes in at the other end, not exactly where, but that’s where the problem stems.”

Edwards says he’s spoken to the Eaton County Drain Commissioner on a couple of event, however says he hasn’t seen any progress. 

“Whenever we get any really extensive rain, like an entire day of rain. Our creek literally floods,” said Edwards. “As low as the creeks looks now, and how it looks, in one day it literally comes up it comes all the way over into my neighbor’s yard.”

He says he’s accomplished all he can to forestall extra points. 

“I’ve done some necessary requirement things to fix that with gutter changes, and sump pumps, and French tiles installed,” said Edwards. “Those things help, but even still we still get a little bit of water every now and then.” 

Edwards says even with all of the enhancements, it’s nonetheless not sufficient. 

“I’ve gone through probably four or five different sump pumps,” said Edwards. “I have a jet pump that operates off the city water once the power outage goes out.”  

6 Information has reached out ot the Eaton County Drain Commissioner and the Delta Township Storm Administration Workplace however has not heard again but.
