Metropolis of East Lansing publicizes new Chief of Police

Metropolis of East Lansing publicizes new Chief of Police

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Metropolis of East Lansing introduced Thursday that Jennifer Brown, the interim police chief, was chosen to be the brand new chief of the East Lansing Police Division.

“I am honored to accept the position of Chief of Police for the City of East Lansing,” Brown mentioned. “Serving my community is a privilege, and I am committed to fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the people we serve. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated officers, city leaders and residents to ensure safety, inclusivity and excellence in policing.”

Brown had been serving because the interim chief of the East Lansing Police Division since December 2024. She joined the division as deputy chief in December 2023.

In accordance with town, Brown has centered on bettering patrol operations and emergency administration and specializing in worker well being and wellness. She has additionally been working to raised the division’s relationships with the area people and Michigan State College.

She joined ELPD after a fifteen-year profession with MSUPD, the place she was a police sergeant and police lieutenant.

Brown has lived within the Lansing space all her life. She graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s diploma in prison justice and psychology and a grasp’s diploma in prison justice.
