“Dave is named after my husband, David,” shares Pfeiffer. “He’s been my greatest supporter from day one. He also happens to love when I wear vanilla. When we started crafting Dave, I knew I wanted to make a vanilla that defied the ‘ordinary’ stereotypes—something with depth and duality, just like David. It’s comforting, yet bold. Sensitive, yet strong. Sophisticated, yet free-spirited. David is a storyteller. And like any great story, Dave is a vanilla with some unexpected twists.”

And twists it has. Whereas vanilla virtually all the time conjures up “sweet,” that is finest described as “weightless and light” with sudden boldness.

“While crafting Dave, my intention was to immerse the senses with some as familiar as vanilla, but done in a way that they have never encountered before,” explains Pascal Gaurin, vp and senior perfumer at IFF. “Decadent yet playful, fresh yet warm, sophisticated yet uncomplicated, Dave captures nuances of natural vanilla bean that are wrapped in the floral petals of neroli and decadent gourmand notes cocoa shell and tonka bean.”
