LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Division of Corrections (MDOC) and regulation enforcement have confiscated greater than 900 illegally possessed weapons as a part of Operation Protected Neighborhoods, a statewide initiative targeted on decreasing gun violence.

Operation Protected Neighborhoods is an initiative that started in March 2023 as a part of the Michigan Protected Communities program, the place regulation enforcement officers conduct check-ins with individuals on parole or probation who can’t legally personal a gun.
