LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan and 11 different states are suing a number of federal businesses, accusing them of “interfering” with already authorized grants to the states for “emergency management, disaster relief, and homeland security operations.”

The lawsuit names the Division of Homeland Safety (DHS) and its secretary Kristi Noem and the Federal Emergency Administration Company and its present administrator David Richardson as defendants, alleging that the Trump administration has tried to shift the “burden of emergency management” to the states.

The states declare that the federal authorities did so by repeatedly denying or proscribing requests to declare an emergency, withholding grant funding, and imposing irrelevant and allegedly unconstitutional phrases on these receiving stated grants.

Nessel says that these grants fund a “substantial” portion of the State of Michigan’s emergency administration, together with the MSP’s Emergency Administration and Homeland Safety Division. Funding from these applications additionally help with terrorism prevention, energetic shooter trainings, native police help for the Secret Service, additional time for state troopers, and different homeland safety objects.
