Michigan faculties and childcare facilities obtain M for clear ingesting water

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)—The Division of Setting, Nice Lakes, and Vitality (EGLE) awarded $50 million in grant funding to 612 public college districts and 122 childcare facilities in Michigan to make sure college students can entry clear, lead-free ingesting water.

The grant will reimburse faculties for any purchases made to adjust to the Michigan Filter First legislation, which requires licensed childcare facilities and Okay-12 faculties to filter youngsters’s ingesting water for lead. Childcare facilities should adjust to the brand new legislation by October 2025, and faculties by June 2026.

To take action, faculties and childcare facilities must buy and set up issues corresponding to bottle-filling stations, faucet-mount filters, filtered water pitchers, and substitute cartridges.
