LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Michigan Division of Corrections (MDOC) psychological well being worker has been charged in reference to an alleged inappropriate relationship with an inmate beneath her care, Jackson County Prosecutor Kelsey Guernsey mentioned Thursday.

Guernsey mentioned Rene Nelson was arraigned on a cost of second-degree legal sexual conduct. The felony carries a most penalty of as much as 15 years in jail.

The allegations stem from conduct prosecutors say occurred whereas Nelson was employed as a psychological well being skilled on the division. She is accused of getting an “inappropriate relationship with an inmate under her care.”

Justice of the Peace Christopher Dickerson set bond at $2,500. Nelson had beforehand been positioned on unpaid depart by the MDOC.

A possible trigger convention is ready for Sept. 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

MDOC didn’t instantly reply to six Information’ request for remark.
