Michigan proclaims $2M for 'Make it in Michigan' Mobility Prototyping Grant winners

Michigan proclaims M for 'Make it in Michigan' Mobility Prototyping Grant winners

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan has introduced the recipients of the “Make it in Michigan” Mobility Prototyping Grant winners, with chosen tasks receiving a complete of $2 million in funding.

The Michigan Workplace of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) and the Michigan Workplace of Protection and Aerospace Innovation (ODAI) report that the grant program awards as much as $100,000 per firm to “accelerate product development, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness for innovations spanning air, ground, and maritime mobility, including autonomous systems, drones, and critical mobility components.”

“These projects represent the ingenuity powering Michigan’s next generation of mobility and defense solutions,” Justine Johnson, Chief Mobility Officer, Michigan Financial Growth Company (MEDC), stated in a information launch despatched to six Information.

“By supporting more prototyping, supplier engagement, and early production in Michigan, we’re strengthening our state’s industrial base, creating good-paying jobs, and ensuring that breakthrough technologies are designed, built, and scaled right here at home. Congratulations to this year’s awardees.”

Cobra MOTO (Hillsdale, MI) – Design and prototype an electrified navy motorbike with iterative prototyping and FEA.

Darkflite Inc (Brighton, MI) – Construct a tiltrotor-based kinetic UAS prototype with built-in focusing on and provide launcher.

Normal Orbit (Birmingham, MI) – Advance a magnetometer-based ADCS house know-how to manufacturable {hardware} with Michigan suppliers.

Intermode (Canton, MI) – Combine air + floor drones through a robotic module with built-in UAS.

KB Powertrain Inc (Kalamazoo, MI) – Construct and validate an electrified axle prototype (eRHINO) for business autos.

Michigan Area Applied sciences (Ann Arbor, MI) – Develop a hybrid EM-assisted low-orbit house propulsion demonstrator towards micro-launch techniques.

Milton Manufacturing (Detroit, MI) – Construct a transportable hybrid microgrid with built-in power techniques and DFM upgrades for each business and protection purposes.

Modal Motors (Farmington Hills, MI) – Design and prototype UAS drone motors and ESCs with U.S.-made non-rare-earth magnets.
