Michigan State holds on to beat Purdue at dwelling

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Needing to win their final two video games of the season to turn into bowl eligible, Michigan State’s soccer staff received one step nearer to that aim.

The Spartans took down Purdue on Friday evening, 24-17, and improved to 5-6 on the season.

It was a story of two halves for MSU as a result of all 24 factors got here within the first half. A 24-3 lead at halftime slipped to a seven-point lead within the fourth quarter, and a late fourth down conversion by sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles would seal the deal for the Spartans.

MSU scored on its first 4 drives to begin the sport for the primary time since 2016 and had 116 yards within the second quarter. 27 yards within the third quarter and 46 yards within the fourth quarter would permit Purdue to make issues shut down the stretch.

Chiles completed with 159 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and nil interceptions.

Michigan State will look to wash up its second-half efficiency within the common season finale subsequent Saturday at Spartan Stadium in opposition to Rutgers. A win will give the Spartans their first bowl berth since 2021.
