Miss USA visits her Okemos alma mater

Miss USA visits her Okemos alma mater

OKEMOS Mich. (WLNS) – Alma Cooper, the most recent Miss USA ,has been touring to colleges throughout the nation speaking about her expertise within the Military. Wednesday, she was a literal “homecoming” queen as a result of she visited her alma mater—Okemos Excessive Faculty.

Alma graduated in 2019, and he or she spent her time on the college having lunch with college students and telling them how they will accomplish their objectives similar to she has. 

As the primary lively responsibility Military officer to win Miss USA, Alma shared how being within the navy modified her life. All through her time as Miss USA, Cooper has demanded excellence of herself and he or she is displaying college students how they will do the identical.

“Look at all these things I’ve been able to do, and all of these opportunities I’ve had. What are the possibilities you think you want to take advantage of and look to do? How can you serve others,” Cooper mentioned.

Born and raised in Michigan, Cooper mentioned her academics and mentors at Okemos Excessive Faculty helped form her.

“A lot of the lessons I learned about demanding excellence of yourself, being part of a team, teamwork, cohesion, I learned here,” Cooper mentioned in regards to the college.

Certainly one of her former volleyball coaches and the present assistant principal at Okemos Excessive, Allison Cironi, shared what Alma delivered to the workforce.

“She’s always been working on cultivating leadership skills and helping those around her so the team can achieve. That’s one of the greatest things she brought to us,” Cironi mentioned. 

Placing the workforce first is one thing that grew to become a foundational piece of Alma’s message as Miss USA. She does not cease when she succeeds, Alma’s final objective is to point out others how they are often profitable too.

“If you can see me you can be me. The only limits you face are the ones you accept. There’s nothing that you can’t overcome when you have willpower and dedication behind it,” Cooper mentioned.

“I’m going to try to be better, study more, and work harder,” Abuhaltam mentioned. 

22 12 months previous Cooper has held the title of Miss USA 2024 since August and he or she mentioned she has spent most of her reign in uniform. As a United States Army Academy West Level graduate now pursuing her masters at Stanford College, Cooper mentioned service is what drives her.

“If someone out there is thinking about taking a big step that might be different from a lot of their friends. I want them to know their path is valid and they can be of service to others in whatever they choose to do” Cooper mentioned. 

Alma will likely be in Michigan for the remainder of the week—together with the MSU girls’s basketball recreation on Sunday. Then, she’s going to head to Chicago.
