MLB confiscates bat utilized by Astros’ outfielder after Yankees supervisor questions its legality

New York Yankees supervisor Aaron Boone questioned the legality of a bat utilized by Houston Astros outfielder Taylor Trammell throughout Thursday’s collection finale.

Down by 5 runs within the backside of the ninth inning, Houston mounted a comeback by beginning off the inning with a single by catcher Victor Caratini and a double off the wall by outfielder Taylor Trammell. After the at-bat, Boone requested the umpires to examine the bat utilized by the 27-year-old due to its “discoloration.”

Rule 3.02(c) by Main League Baseball bans the utilization of a “colored bat in a professional game” until accepted by the league.

“You’re not allowed to do anything to your bat,” Boone stated after the sport. “I’m not saying he was … we noticed it and the league thought it maybe it was illegal, too.”

After the sport, the outfielder remained confused.

“I feel kind of defensive right now, more so a test of my character, like I’m going to willingly do that,” Trammell stated. “Just kind of lost on that thing, and if anyone knows me, knows I’m never going to cheat or anything like that.”

Trammell, who performed a few video games for the Yankees final season, stayed on second base. The Astros later scored a run on a single by designated hitter Yordan Alvarez however the Yankees held on to win the sport 8-4.
