Mom of British lady discovered lifeless in Bangkok lodge room accuses Thai police of ‘cover-up’

The mom of a British lady who was discovered lifeless alongside her companion in a Bangkok lodge has accused Thai police of a “cover-up”.

Rebecca Turner and her boyfriend Sam Melnick had been discovered lifeless on the ground of her room by lodge employees on 15 March final yr.

Ms Turner’s mother and father stated their 36-year-old daughter, from Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, thought she was taking cocaine on the evening earlier than she died.

Anita Turner has travelled to Thailand 3 times since her daughter’s demise, and plans to exit once more subsequent month.

Talking outdoors East Sussex Coroner’s Courtroom, she warned different travellers towards taking medication overseas and criticised Thailand’s police pressure.

She stated: “They [Thai police] promised me details in six months’ time and that was about eight months ago. I’m still waiting.

“All of the police attempt to do is simply cowl it up they usually bought mad at me sooner or later as a result of I informed them that they usually informed me I used to be mendacity.

“There is a text message [from Rebecca] talking about a little bit of cocaine. She thought it was cocaine.”

Throughout her journeys, Anita Turner has continued the charity work her daughter had begun.

She described her daughter as “fun, bubbly, always partying, always laughing, always smiling”.

Assistant coroner Laura Bradford recorded a conclusion of a drug-related demise and stated the medical reason behind demise was drug toxicity.

The coroner stated there was “no evidence to suggest she was intending to die”, including: “I have evidence from Rebecca’s family that her mental health was stable and her mood was in fact good.”
