MSU Bug Home hosts vacation open home

EAST LANSING, Mich.(WLNS)— Let’s discuss bugs. Some individuals discover them scary, however they’re essential to the environment. An area schooling middle hopes to show a unfavorable stereotype right into a optimistic one. 

The Michigan State College Bug Home hosted its vacation open home on Saturday.

The bug home featured bugs starting from dwell cockroaches, and even tarantulas. 

Amanda Lorenz, Director of the Bug Home, says they educate the general public about bugs and their position inside the ecosystem. 

She says bugs are important for pollinating crops, and assist with decomposing crops, and animals. 

She provides in addition they assist assist the meals chain. 

Lorenz says that though pesticides are essential, they will hurt bugs, and recommends alternate options to maintain our eight-legged mates secure. 

“Utilizing traps and physical control and things like that instead of chemicals as possible, and also maybe having a little bit more tolerance for having bugs around us,” said Lorenz. “Can really help us with reducing overuse of pesticide.”

The Bug Home is open to the general public each second Monday of every month.
