LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — After a seven-month-long nationwide search, Michigan State College has introduced they’ve discovered a brand new provost—Laura Lee McIntyre, who may also function govt vice chairman for educational affairs.

“Michigan State University’s deep commitment to research, discovery and access to high-quality education aligns with my values as an academic leader,” stated McIntyre. “I’m inspired by the passion and purpose I see in MSU’s students, faculty and staff. Together, we will foster a learning environment that’s inclusive, collaborative and focused on meaningful impact — on campus and beyond.”

McIntyre will take over the place from the present interim provost, Thomas D. Jeitschko, who will return to his position as senior affiliate provost after three years as interim provost. Within the place, she would be the high educational officer for the college, managing its educational packages, analysis, and outreach within the Spartan group.

Her hiring requires approval from the college’s Board of Trustees at their subsequent formal assembly, which is presently scheduled for June 13.

Her deliberate begin date is Aug. 4, 2025, shortly earlier than the start of the autumn semester.

“As president, I am committed to putting leadership in place that best positions Michigan State University and our students for the future,” stated college president Kevin Guskiewicz. “I am confident that Laura Lee shares our ‘one team’ approach to embracing our rich land-grant traditions while becoming a more contemporary and bold institution, cementing MSU’s place as Michigan’s state university.”

McIntyre is a board-certified conduct analyst, licensed college psychiatrist, and board-licensed psychologist, with a doctorate at school psychology and a grasp’s in particular schooling from the College of California, Riverside.

She presently serves because the dean of the College of Oregon’s Faculty of Training, the place she can also be a Fortress-McIntosh-Knight professor at school psychology. Her analysis focuses on kids’s psychological well being, particular schooling, and learn how to higher promote psychological well being and well-being in weak populations.
