EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Coming off a sweep of Notre Dame at Munn Ice Enviornment this previous weekend, and enhancing their profitable streak to seven video games, the Michigan State hockey staff is now ranked No. 2 within the newest USCHO ballot.
The Spartans, who do not have a collection this weekend, are actually gearing up for an exhibition recreation in opposition to the US Nationwide Staff Improvement Program on Thursday on the USA Hockey Enviornment in Plymouth.
The exhibition will even be supporting a great trigger.
In response to MSU athletics, $5 from each ticket offered for the sport will go to the household of Matt and Kelly Deschamps.
Kelly was just lately identified with stage three breast most cancers and her husband Matt, who’s now an assistant coach at Michigan, was a professional hockey teammate of MSU head coach Adam Nightingale.
“When you’re playing in the East Coast League, you’re living in apartments,” Nightingale stated. “His wife, Kelly, and my wife, Kristin, became good friends. Even when he coached in Chicago, we’d travel through, and they got five kids, so we’d bring all the kids and hang out for a day or two.”
“Just talking with USA Hockey, there was an opportunity to partner up and give $5 of each ticket to a cause and we thought this was a great cause. Matt is a heck of a coach and an even better person. Kelly is a great mom and there was the opportunity to give back. For USA Hockey to be open to it will make for a special night.”
As for the battle on the ice, 5 present Spartans performed junior hockey for the USNTDP: Sophomore goalie Trey Augustine, juniors Isaac Howard and Charlie Stramel, seniorcaptain Pink Savage, and freshman Shane Vansaghi.
