An Australian lady accused of murdering three of her estranged husband’s relations with toxic loss of life cap mushrooms wept in courtroom as she admitted mendacity about medical points.

Erin Patterson, 50, is charged with murdering her mother-in-law Gail Patterson, father-in-law Donald Patterson and Gail’s sister, Heather Wilkinson, in a case that has gripped the general public.

She can also be charged with the tried homicide of Ian Wilkinson, Heather’s husband.

Prosecutors say Patterson knowingly served the friends deadly loss of life cap mushrooms in a Beef Wellington at her residence in Leongatha, Victoria, in July 2023.

She denies all the fees, claiming the deaths have been a “terrible accident”.

Patterson continued talking in her personal defence on Wednesday as her trial in Morwell, Victoria, continues, repeatedly weeping in courtroom as she stated she could have unintentionally included foraged mushrooms into the meals she served.

“Now I think there was a possibility there were foraged ones in there,” she stated as she was questioned by her personal barrister, Colin Mandy.
