New state funds cuts funding for Michigan Invasive Species Program

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Invasive Species Program may have much less funding than anticipated after the passing of the brand new 2026 fiscal 12 months state funds.

The Michigan Division of Pure Assets (MDNR) experiences that the funds allocates $2.4 million for this system, a $1.2 million lower from the $3.6 million offered in earlier years.

Rundown: What’s actually in Michigan’s new $81B funds

Native, state, federal, tribal authorities, nonprofit organizations, and universities can apply for funding to help invasive species tasks. Grant requests for normal tasks can vary from a minimal of $25,000 to a most of $400,000.

These searching for grant funding are required to submit full mission proposals by November 1. Grant recipients are anticipated to be introduced in March 2026. All functions should be submitted by MiGrants on-line.
