'Nightmare': Michigan 19-year-old paralyzed by a number of strokes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Relations are working to lift cash to convey a 19-year-old highschool graduate who suffered a number of strokes whereas in Hawaii again house to Michigan for persevering with care.

Household says Marchant, of East Grand Rapids, excelled in class and dreamed of going to Michigan State College to change into a veterinarian.

“She’s at all times wished to be a vet ever since she was just a little child,” her older sister Chloe Brown stated.

She’s additionally a faithful aunt. At her two nieces’ Grand Rapids house, she painted brightly coloured flowers and bumblebees on the playroom wall.

“This will always remind me of her and her strength and creativity,” Brown stated of the artwork. “It was like a little project we did together.”

Marchant spent a lot of her childhood in Hawaii and is now dwelling there along with her mother. On Aug. 11, solely days after her nineteenth birthday, Marchant wakened with neck ache. Inside hours, she could not transfer.

She had suffered a number of strokes, her sister informed Nexstar’s WOOD-TV.

Jessie Marchant’s father Mark Marchant, who lives in West Michigan, stated watching from afar has been heartbreaking.

“It hurts me because I don’t want to see my kids hurt. I told her, ‘If I could do anything, I would take it from you,'” he stated.

The household is working to convey Jessie Marchant again to West Michigan for superior stroke care.

“I need her to return right here the place the perfect docs are,” Mark Marchant stated.

The household launched a GoFundMe account in search of $100,000 to pay for a medical flight, in addition to different medical and dwelling bills.

Her mom stated regardless of the ache, Jessie Marchant has not misplaced her dedication.

“My Jessie is a fighter,” Victorino stated. “And if this was me, I don’t know how mentally I would handle it.”
