LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signed three payments, increasing reasonably priced housing choices for renters throughout Michigan.

Senate Payments 205, 206 and 207 will increase reasonably priced housing choices in Michigan by stopping qualifying landlords from denying tenants housing primarily based on their supply of earnings. The payments may also fight homelessness by decreasing boundaries folks have to beat when discovering housing.

“These changes will help potentially 34,290 families afford a roof over their heads and will create more affordable housing options for Michiganders across the state,” stated the State in a information launch despatched to six Information.

“I am proud to sign these commonsense bills that expand affordable housing options and protect Michiganders from housing discrimination,” stated Whitmer in a launch obtained by 6 Information.

Whitmer additionally signed extra laws to guard Michiganders testifying within the courtroom, fight human trafficking, and assist financial improvement in the state.

Senate Invoice 248 will increase the age restrict to have a courtroom assist canine from 16 to 18, supporting a variety of people when testifying. 20 different states have already got comparable insurance policies in place.

Senate Payments 515, 516 and 517 will assist survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault by updating the method to collect and use proof in prosecuting the perpetrators of those crimes.
