There was mariachi music, flowers, hugs, laughs and plenty of honest, emotional moments on Saturday evening at Salesian Excessive’s annual gala within the faculty gymnasium that helps increase scholarship funds and honor alumni on the 400 all boys Catholic faculty in Boyle Heights.

Two NFL gamers, Keisean Nixon of the Inexperienced Bay Packers and Deommodore Lenoir of the San Francisco 49ers, members of Salesian’s 2013 Southern Part championship staff, have been chosen for the Golden Mustang award that honors alumni and different supporters of the college.

Nixon spent his senior 12 months at Salesian and mentioned it modified his life.

“Never quit,” he mentioned of the lesson he realized. “I never let anyone put me in a box. I stayed true to what I dreamed about my passion to play football. When I sought out my destiny, I chased it. I never gave up. Salesian changed me a lot. I didn’t have structure. I met a lot of people who cared about me. I learned a lot being here.”

It’s the ultimate week of the common season in highschool baseball for the Metropolis Part and Southern Part. Playoff pairings might be introduced on Saturday for the Metropolis Part and Monday for the Southern Part.
