The Boras Basic South Division begins on Tuesday at JSerra and Mater Dei, and let’s simply say the 16-team bracket is loaded with high groups in Southern California, together with No. 1 Corona, No. 2 Huntington Seaside, No. 4 La Mirada and No. 5 Mater Dei. If Corona and Huntington Seaside can survive the early rounds, the 2 unbeaten groups would meet in Friday’s 6 p.m. championship at JSerra.
Successful this event is all about pitching depth, with groups attempting to win 4 video games in 4 days. Corona opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in opposition to Gahr at JSerra. Huntington Seaside faces Aquinas at 9 a.m. at Mater Dei.
There are 4 unbeaten groups within the event — Corona, Huntington Seaside, Mater Dei and Aquinas.
The Metropolis Part is represented by Birmingham (7-2), which has confirmed off two excellent pitchers within the opening month of the season in Allen Olmos and freshman Carlos Acuna. Birmingham faces La Mirada at midday at Mater Dei in its opener.
Motion continues Wednesday and Thursday, with the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Mater Dei and JSerra.
