LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Christmas is simply across the nook, that means individuals are ready for packages to be delivered.

Michigan Lawyer Basic Dana Nessel desires to remind folks to take proactive steps to guard their packages from theft as part of the Vacation Scams Marketing campaign.

Listed below are some tricks to maintain packages protected:

Use Safe Supply Choices: Ship packages to a safe location, resembling Amazon lockers, FedEx places of work, or your office if permitted.

Enhance Visibility: Preserve your porch well-lit and contemplate including motion-sensing lighting.

Create the Phantasm of Presence: Even whenever you’re not dwelling, make it appear like somebody is current by leaving lights or music on.

Put money into Expertise: Set up a porch digicam or movement detector that may provide you with a warning to exercise and help you monitor deliveries in actual time.

Nessel says stealing mail or packages is a critical offense. First-time offenders can face fines and as much as one yr in jail. Repeated offenders threat as much as 5 years in jail underneath state and federal regulation.
