REAL ID deadline is arising—are you prepared?

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The REAL ID deadline is arising, and it could have an effect on your subsequent flight.

Starting Might 7, Michiganders might want to have a REAL ID-compliant doc to fly domestically in the US and enter any federal authorities buildings.

Michigan’s previous license design has a star in a gold circle, and the brand new license design has a star in a silhouette of Michigan. 

State officers say 70% of Michigan’s driver licenses and state IDs have been REAL ID-compliant as of March 21, however for the 30% that are not, you will want to go to the Secretary of State’s workplace and current both your present license or ID, a sound passport or delivery certificates—and an authorized authorized identify change doc in case your identify is completely different out of your delivery certificates.

After the Might 7 deadline, Michiganders will nonetheless have the ability to change their license to a REAL ID, and Byrum says Michiganders should act quick in acquiring these authorized paperwork to be able to defend their future voting rights.
