Replay: The Boxing Day tsunami survivor who impressed Ronaldo

This 12 months, Boxing Day marks the 20th anniversary of the tsunami that triggered 230,000 deaths round South East Asia.

So with the Day by day on a short break, we’re replaying an episode of Storycast which tells the story of Martunis.

On 26 December 2004, one of many deadliest disasters in historical past struck when tsunami waves have been triggered by a large earthquake.

Their subsequent report was seen by Cristiano Ronaldo – the Portuguese soccer star, identified to many as the best participant of his technology, however much less so for his function on this outstanding survival story.
