Rip-off focusing on registered intercourse offenders in Ionia County

IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — The Ionia County Sheriff’s Workplace says a brand new rip-off is circulating in the neighborhood focusing on a particular group: registered intercourse offenders.

Based on the ICSO, the scammer is posing as a lieutenant from the ICSO saying the offenders have energetic warrants for his or her arrest. To keep away from being arrested, the victims should pay bond electronically.

“As stated before, we will never call and collect money over the phone. If you have a warrant for your arrest, you will be asked to appear in person for processing through the jail,” the ICSO mentioned in a social media put up.

The division additionally famous that they don’t settle for bond funds in Amazon or Greendot reward playing cards or Venmo and different digital companies.

“These are all simply scams. If you receive these calls, hang up and block the number,” the ICSO mentioned.
