A Scottish vacationer has been arrested in Colombia after allegedly attempting to board a flight house with practically 2kg of cocaine in his suitcase.
Ricky Grant Braveness, 32, has been remanded in custody after being stopped at Rafael Nunez Worldwide Airport, which serves the Caribbean port metropolis of Cartagena, on 29 September.
The Overseas, Commonwealth and Improvement Workplace (FCDO) stated it was aiding Braveness, who’s believed to be from Aberdeen and is denying any wrongdoing.
In an announcement posted on-line, the Workplace of the Legal professional Basic of Colombia stated Braveness has been charged beneath the crime of producing, trafficking or carrying narcotics.
The prosecution service has claimed 1,976g of cocaine was detected in Braveness’s checked baggage to Scotland with assist from sniffer canine throughout a police inspection.
A spokesperson stated: “Six packages covered with black plastic were found among the foreigner’s personal belongings.”
Braveness, who refutes the allegations, is at the moment being held at San Sebastian Ternera Jail in Cartagena.
A spokesperson for FCDO stated: “We are supporting a British man detained in Colombia and are in touch with the local authorities.”
