LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Division of Transportation (MDOT) has introduced six new electrical automobile (EV) charging stations positioned in Lansing, because of the Nationwide Electrical Car Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

The brand new charging station is within the Meijer car parking zone at 6200 South Pennsylvania Ave. MDOT says a trailer-friendly charger might be added to the six new charging stations.

MDOT experiences in 2024, the Michigan Infrastructure Workplace introduced the Michigan Division of Transportation’s (MDOT) award of almost $23 million to assist the set up of 40 common, quick charging stations throughout the state.

“MDOT is committed to enhancing the charging network statewide to support our EV users,” stated State Transportation Director Bradley C. Wieferich. “Thanks to the NEVI program, we can expedite this network, reaching our goal of supporting 2 million EVs on Michigan roads by 2030.”

The brand new charging station in Lansing is in partnership with Rivian Journey Community. It is one of many first areas open to all EV drivers.

“Rivian is thrilled to launch Michigan’s first charging site available to all EV drivers under the NEVI program,” stated Sara Eslinger, director for Rivian Journey Community. “Drivers charging here will experience the Rivian Adventure Network’s commitment to convenient, reliable charging and can feel great knowing their session is automatically powered by 100 percent renewable energy.”

Based on President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Regulation, the NEVI program helps the enlargement of common quick charging stations nationwide and focuses on areas alongside various gasoline corridors.
