LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Home of Representatives has handed a plan to dedicate a portion of M-34 in Hillsdale County to Deputy Sheriff William Butler, Jr., who was shot and killed throughout a visitors cease final yr.

The invoice was first launched within the Senate, and would dedicate the portion of freeway M-34 in Hillsdale County between Pioneer Rd and S Pittsford Rd because the “Deputy Sheriff William Butler, Jr. Memorial Highway.”
Butler, a Hillsdale County sheriff’s deputy and Michigan Military Nationwide Guard veteran, was shot and killed in June 2024 whereas helping with a visitors cease. Police say when Butler tried to arrest the person he pulled over, the person pulled out a gun and shot him. Butler was taken to the hospital by one other deputy, the place he died of his accidents.
