LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Video reveals a Sterling Heights police officer rescuing a kayaker from the center of a river over the weekend.

Officer Nikolas Bruno was dispatched to the Clinton River at Riverland Park at round 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Could 10. When he arrived, he noticed a girl who wasn’t carrying a life jacket, holding onto a downed tree in the course of the river, calling for assist.

Bruno eliminated his gear and jumped into the river. Somebody close by gave Bruno her life jacket, and he helped the distressed girl put it on earlier than swimming her again to shore.

Police later discovered the lady’s daughter, who had additionally misplaced her kayak, protected on the log dam.

The lady rescued by Bruuno instructed police that she, her daughter, and her niece have been kayaking for the primary time, and that her kayak capsized after getting caught on a downed tree within the river. She mentioned she hit her head and was “barely holding on” earlier than Bruno stepped in.
