Suspect recognized in Jackson Police taking pictures

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Jackson County Sheriff’s Division recognized the suspect who officers say shot a police sergeant within the arm and found pipe bombs in a suspect’s automotive.

Police say Jacob Austin Hikes, 31, shot his brother in Lenawee County round 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 6.

Hikes was discovered by a monitoring gadget and officers indicated he was driving a maroon-colored van. Officers then situated Hikes’ automotive on the 1000 block of Cooper Avenue on the east aspect of Jackson.

Officers imagine the person was throwing pipe bombs out of his automotive. Lieutenant Rene Gonzalez with the Michigan State Police confirmed they discovered many pipe bombs in Hikes’ automotive.

Deputies say Hikes led the police on a high-speed chase and a number of pictures had been fired. Police say a number of properties and automobiles had been shot throughout the police chase however there have been no stories of any accidents from bystanders.

Round 5:41 p.m., police say a sergeant from the Jackson Police Division was shot in his arm on the intersection of Van Dorn and Elizabeth Avenue. The bullet went via the sergeant’s arm and his physique. 6 Information reported earlier that the sergeant was taken to an area hospital and is in good situation.
