'They don't care:' MSU college students grapple with harsh climate

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Michigan State College has determined to proceed with lessons as regular regardless of ongoing sub-zero temperatures and intense winter climate. Some college students are upset in regards to the choice. 

This comes after an electronic mail Monday night time from the college’s Division of Police and Public Security notifying the Spartan neighborhood lessons and operations would keep on schedule.

Within the electronic mail, the college says the choice was made after a “thorough assessment of native climate circumstances”. The e-mail additionally stated school, workers, and college students ought to take mandatory steps to guard themselves and laid out ideas for staying secure.

With faculties like Lansing Group School, Wayne State, and Western Michigan College making climate lodging, some Spartan college students say they do not really feel supported. 

“It almost feels as if they don’t care about students and in the email they sent us they said to be as safe as possible but we can’t be safe if we are going out in these weather conditions,” stated senior scholar Campbell Berg. “[Some students] have no other choice but to go. They don’t want to get .5% taken off of their grade because that’s what most of the consequences will be for the students that miss a class.”
