Tokyo man arrested on suspicion of capturing, abusing and killing pigeon

A person has been arrested in Tokyo on suspicion of killing a pigeon that he reportedly filmed himself abusing.

Hiroshi Tsuji, a 49-year-old taxi driver from Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, allegedly captured the chicken on the facet of a river within the Japanese capital someday between April and June 2024, native media shops reported.

It’s alleged he killed the pigeon by decapitating it utilizing scissors.

Tsuji was quoted telling police earlier than his arrest that he had “purged the pigeon” as a result of it was “unfriendly to him”, Kyodo reported, citing Japanese authorities.

The suspect is believed to have posted a number of movies of animal abuse on social media platform X since Might 2023.

Police had acquired greater than 100 stories about his behaviour and several other animal welfare teams filed complaints.

He was beforehand arrested on 26 January for allegedly utilizing a false title when buying a small chicken at a pet store in November 2024, in keeping with Kyodo.
