Trump threatens to cease funding for any schools permitting 'unlawful protests'

(The Hill) – President Trump mentioned Tuesday that he’ll search to dam the federal funding for schools and universities “that allow illegal protests” on their campuses. 

“All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came,” the president wrote in a Fact Social put up, although he didn’t specify an enforcement mechanism.

“American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on the crime, arrested. NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump added.

The president’s put up comes a day after a number of federal businesses introduced they are going to be reviewing contracts and grants with Columbia College and deciding whether or not to proceed them as a result of allegations of antisemitism on campus.  

Trump has beforehand made comparable statements about deporting international college students who have interaction in protests.  

“One thing I do is, any student that protests, I throw them out of the country. You know, there are a lot of foreign students. As soon as they hear that, they’re going to behave,” Trump mentioned at an occasion to donors, sources instructed The Washington Put up.
