UCLA girls’s basketball ranked No. 1 in AP ballot for first time after South Carolina win

The UCLA girls’s basketball workforce has a brand new, coveted designation: greatest within the nation.

A day after the Bruins toppled top-ranked South Carolina, they leapfrogged three different unbeaten groups Monday to take excessive spot within the Related Press rankings.

UCLA gained the 1978 Assn. for Intercollegiate Athletics for Girls championship behind the dynamic play of Ann Meyers-Drysdale and Denise Curry. Meyers-Drysdale attended the sport Sunday, watching a gaggle of gamers who would possibly take the Bruins to unprecedented heights.

Shut mentioned the victory over the Gamecocks was one other step towards her workforce’s desired vacation spot.

“It’s Nov. 24,” Shut mentioned after the sport. “Am I proud of our team? Yes, but this is just the beginning and we just can’t get tired of doing things right.”
