SCOTTVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Bodycam video reveals the moments Mason County deputies helped individuals escape a second-floor residence that was filling with smoke.

Round 9:50 p.m. Monday, a fireplace was reported at Glendale Flats on third Avenue in Scottville, the place individuals had been trapped inside. The primary emergency crews to reply had been deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Workplace, who discovered individuals trapped on their second-floor balconies.

“I need you to hoist down your kid over here,” one deputy yells as much as a girl on her balcony.

“I’m not strong, I’m not strong enough,” the girl says again.

“You have to do it,” he says, including “hold on,” as he runs to maneuver his sheriff’s workplace pickup truck.

The deputy backs the truck up so it’s shut sufficient to the balcony and climbs on the tailgate to achieve the kid. One other deputy and a Michigan State Trooper come to assist.

“Alright, give me your kid,” the deputy says, reaching up. “I got you, sweetie,” he reassures the kid as he fingers her off to a different officer.

Then officers assist the girl safely climb down the balcony onto the truck earlier than shifting to assist others.

“On to the next,” the deputy says.
