Virgin Media clients left with out web as supplier suffers ‘intermittent points’

Virgin Media is working to repair a difficulty that has left many purchasers unable to get on-line.

The telecoms large stated on Monday it was conscious of “intermittent issues” with its providers and apologised to clients, including it was working to unravel the problem as a “priority”.

The corporate has not confirmed what has triggered the problem.

Greater than 9,000 studies of points have been made since 11am, in keeping with service standing web site Downdetector, with the bulk saying their web providers have been affected.

In a press release, the corporate stated: “We’re aware that some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with their services,” a Virgin Media O2 spokesperson stated.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to fix this as a priority.”

‘Not useful’

Many affected clients additionally took to social media to report points with their providers, with one describing the connection as “all over the place”.

One other wrote: “Why on a Monday of all days.”

A 3rd questioned whether or not the corporate would reimburse them for the cell knowledge they’ve had to make use of so as to entry the web.

“I hope you’re going to reimburse me for my data I have used today, being with O2 data and having my own Virgin Media broadband down I am using all of my data that I have left… not helpful,” they wrote.

Virgin Media merged with O2 UK again in June 2021.

The deal concerned US media agency Liberty International, the proprietor of the Virgin Media cable TV and broadband supplier, becoming a member of forces with Spanish agency Telefonica to create a £31bn firm.

Virgin Media reported having 5.7 million broadband clients on the finish of its second quarter in 2024 – a lot of whom additionally purchase cell and pay-television providers from the corporate.
