BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — America Air Pressure Thunderbirds arrived on the Battle Creek Discipline of Flight Air Present and Balloon Competition Thursday, flying in exact formation to the delight of viewers on the bottom.
“It’s an incredible honor and very humbling to go to work and do this every day,” pilot Maj. Laney Schol, a Texas native who’s in her first season with the Thunderbirds, stated. “When I was in college, I saw the Thunderbirds for the first time and just was awe-inspired. From the ground show to the air, every piece of it was inspiring to me.”
She stated one among her favourite components of the job is speaking to children after the reveals, “seeing that sparkle in their eye when they get the aviation bug.”
The squadron of F-16 fighter jets left Las Vegas and flew for about three hours, refueling midair, earlier than arriving in Battle Creek round 5 p.m.
“We executed a site survey when we first got here,” Schol stated. “The solos will separate from the diamond, we’ll go look at all of our ground references, run some timing patterns. And then the diamond will do their own site survey.”

Ayden Hager additionally grew up watching the them carry out.
“Growing up, my grandma would work at the VIP section and so I met the Thunderbirds. I have photos with them throughout the years, so it’s always really cool. And bringing our kids to see them it, it feels really cool. It warms the heart,” he stated.
