'We're crossing our fingers': Potter Park Zoo offers medical replace on Lansing's uncommon black rhino

'We're crossing our fingers': Potter Park Zoo offers medical replace on Lansing's uncommon black rhino

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The uncommon black rhino at Potter Park Zoo named Doppsee had a “medical emergency” on Monday after a “very sudden decline in her health,” in response to zoo officers.

Doppsee remains to be unable to eat, so the attending veterinarians are offering her fluids by way of IV tubes in her ears.

Offering care to Doppsee is sophisticated by her massive dimension.

“In a 1,200 kg animal, she decides what she wants to do, so it’s a little opportunistic,” Dr. Ronan Eustace advised 6 Information.

“We have to sort of come up with creative ways, so if she decides to pull out her IV fluids, she’s not going to get any complications. We have to use pulleys and things like that to help get the fluids to us and refill them, then get them back to her.”
