LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Brenda Tracy mentioned she goes to confront Michigan State College’s Board of Trustees Friday.
Tracy is a sexual assault survivor and former advocate who accused former MSU soccer coach Mel Tucker of sexual harassment and later sued the Board of Trustees over alleged mishandling and leaks.
“In this country, we just don’t want to believe survivors of sexual assault and misconduct,” Tracy informed 6 Information. “We have this thing about protecting powerful men. So a lot of it I’m not surprised by.”
She labored for MSU soccer as a marketing consultant and reported then-head coach Tucker for sexual harassment, together with an alleged specific telephone name with out consent. The allegations grew to become public in September 2023. MSU fired Tucker for trigger quickly after.
Tucker claims the interactions had been consensual, which Tracy denies.
In June, Tracy filed a federal lawsuit towards MSU’s Board of Trustees, alleging the college mishandled her criticism and trustees leaked her identification throughout a confidential investigation. MSU has moved to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing her claims lack authorized foundation and characterizing the lawsuit as a ““multi-million-dollar windfall.”
