LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A profitable Powerball ticket expired—and all $250,000 in prize cash went to the state College Support Fund, in line with the Michigan Lottery.

The ticket was bought at a Kroger in Bloomfield Hills. It expired at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

“While we want all players to claim the prizes they’ve won, providing an extra $250,000 to the School Aid Fund today is a big win for public education in Michigan,” mentioned Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “Last year, the Lottery contributed more than $1 billion to the School Aid Fund for the sixth year in a row, and we’re on track for another great year in FY25.”

Every time you purchase a lottery ticket, you fund Michigan colleges. Based on the Michigan Lottery, they offered greater than $1.2 billion to the state’s public colleges final 12 months.

Powerball tickets are legitimate for one 12 months from the drawing date.

The document for an unclaimed lottery prize in Michigan was set in 1998 when a $34 million prize went unclaimed. That profitable Michigan Lotto ticket was bought on the Meijer on Lake Lansing Rd. in East Lansing.
