4 feminine information presenters settle age and intercourse discrimination tribunal claims with BBC

4 feminine information presenters settle age and intercourse discrimination tribunal claims with BBC

Presenters Annita McVeigh, Karin Giannone, Kasia Madera and Martine Croxall launched an employment tribunal towards the BBC, which was on account of begin subsequent week.

Ms McVeigh, Ms Croxall and Ms Madera alleged discrimination on the grounds of age, intercourse, being a union member and wages, whereas Ms Giannone alleged discrimination primarily based on age, intercourse and wages.

It’s understood the settlement has been reached with no admission of legal responsibility, and a three-week tribunal to listen to the presenters’ claims will no longer go forward.

In a press release, the presenters stated: “We will affirm that we’ve reached a decision with BBC administration that avoids the necessity for a tribunal listening to in respect of our employment-related claims.

“A protracted process lasting almost three years is now over. We’ve been deeply moved by the support we’ve received.

A BBC spokesperson said: “After cautious consideration we’ve a reached a decision which brings to an finish protracted authorized proceedings with 4 members of employees and avoids additional prices for the BBC.

“In doing so we have not accepted any liability or any of the arguments made against the BBC. We are simply bringing to a close all of the actions brought against us so that all involved can move forward.

“We welcome this chance to now look to the long run, and to work collectively on delivering for our audiences – which is our first precedence.”
