Actors have voted overwhelmingly to refuse digital scanning on set in a bid to safe satisfactory AI protections.
Fairness – the UK’s largest performing union – introduced the outcomes of an indicative industrial motion poll on Thursday.

With a turnout of over 75%, over 99% of those that voted stated they’d be ready to refuse a set scan.
It is the primary time such a big part of Fairness’s membership – over 7,000 performers working throughout TV and movie – has been balloted, and is an enormous second for the UK’s movie and TV trade.
As an indicative poll, it isn’t binding, nor would it not legally cowl members who refuse to be digitally scanned on set.
However the vote might act as a warning shot to the trade, displaying the extent of help the union has for motion, wanting a strike.
The vote follows unrest within the US in 2023, when members of Fairness’s sister union, SAG-AFTRA, went on strike for 4 months over points together with synthetic intelligence protections.
