The way forward for the OBR with Ed Conway

The Workplace for Finances Accountability has attracted large criticism and anger from Chancellor Rachel Reeves, after mistakenly revealing the main points of her finances hours earlier than she delivered it.

However the watchdog already had its critics.

Liz Truss says she by no means realised how highly effective the OBR was and that it ought to be abolished. And Sir Keir Starmer has criticised the OBR’s evaluation of his authorities’s fiscal plans.

So how will the finances leak have an effect on the OBR’s future? Niall Paterson talks to Ed Conway, Sky’s economics and information editor about precisely what the OBR is, whether or not it has an excessive amount of energy and if it should survive.

Producer: Emma Rae Woodhouse

Editor: Wendy Parker
