Inexperienced Day banned from two Las Vegas radio stations ‘after feedback by Billie Joe Armstrong’

Inexperienced Day have been banned from the playlists of two radio stations in Las Vegas after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong reportedly branded the town “the worst shithole in America”.

The singer made the remark whereas Inexperienced Day have been on stage performing in San Francisco, California, on 20 September, in keeping with US media studies.

“We don’t take no shit from people like John f***ing Fisher who sold out the Oakland A’s to Las f***ing Vegas,” Armstrong was quoted as saying by Folks. “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst shithole in America.”

Armstrong, who was born in Oakland, was apparently referring to John Fisher, the present proprietor of the Oakland A’s, a crew based mostly within the metropolis in California for greater than 100 years.

In April 2023, a deliberate relocation to the Las Vegas Strip was introduced, to what would be the New Las Vegas Stadium in Nevada, because of open in 2028. The controversial transfer has been met with some criticism from followers.

‘We’re pulling the plug’

Now, Las Vegas radio stations KOMP 92.3 and X107.5 have stated they’ll now not play Inexperienced Day’s music.

“KOMP 92.3 has pulled any and all Green Day from our playlist. It’s not us, Billie…it’s you,” rock station KOMP 92.3 stated in a publish shared on Instagram.

Subsequent to a photograph of the band emblazoned with the phrase “BANNED”, X107.5 stated it was saying “BYE BYE, BILLIE”.

The assertion continued: “After Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong disrespected Las Vegas, we’re pulling the plug on ALL of their music. No more Green Day on X107.5.”

The publish then invited followers to have their say.

Nevertheless, it appears many followers didn’t agree with the choice.

“He expresses how he feels about that, and your response is to ban their music,” stated one. “He wasn’t wrong. If you want to lean into newer music, that’s fine. Just don’t blame it on the politics of the artists, or you’ll quickly run out of artists to play.”

“A punk musician expressing himself over sports teams moving and you’re sensitive about it. Yeah. Ok,” stated one other.

After the final sport in Oakland, Fisher launched a press release to followers saying the choice to depart had been “very hard” – and executives had tried to discover a new house within the space, however “came up short”.

“I can tell you this from the heart: we tried,” he stated. “Staying in Oakland was our goal… and we failed to achieve it. And for that I am genuinely sorry.”
