A person has died after being attacked by a shark off the coast of a distant island to the east of New Zealand.
Jade Kahukore-Dixon had been diving off a ship within the Bay of Waitangi, close to Chatham Island, when he was injured by the shark, native media reviews stated.
He was rushed to Chatham Island Hospital however died on Tuesday.
Mr Kahukore-Dixon was a industrial diver who lived on the Chatham Islands and harvested paua, a sort of sea slug with a vibrant shell, and kina, a sort of edible sea urchin, Stuff reported.
His son was a “very tough, young fella” who “loved fishing and diving” from a younger age, he added.
“He would do anything to protect his family. He was an amazing boy, a very much loved member of the family,” he stated.
Mr Dixon added that his son wasn’t afraid of nice white sharks and would see them typically whereas diving.
The younger man had an in depth name when diving beforehand, having obtained his foot caught underneath a rock, till a involved buddy sought him out and freed him, the New Zealand outlet stated.

Mr Kahukore-Dixon was stated to have performed rugby when he was youthful, reportedly being listed as one of many excellent younger gamers within the Chatham Islands rugby squad.
