Lansing nature heart awarded arts and tradition grant to take care of academic packages

Lansing nature heart awarded arts and tradition grant to take care of academic packages

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– The Woldumar Nature Heart was awarded over $23,000 in a grant from the State of Michigan Arts and Tradition Council (MACC) to assist restore its historic Moon Cabin and support academic packages.

“The Woldumar Nature Center has long connected Lansing’s communities with its beautifultrails and woodlands, educational programs, and rich history — this grant is a well-deservedtestament to the irreplaceable services the center provides” stated state Rep. Angela Witwer.

“Thank you to the center’s passionate leaders and staff members for ensuringWoldumar continues to deliver opportunities for learning and connection in nature to ourcommunity. I look forward to seeing how this grant enhances the existing arts and culturalprograms the center provides.”

In accordance with the Woldumar Nature Heart, the Moon Log Cabin is used for environmental training and group packages for hands-on demonstrations. It was constructed within the late 1800’s by a widely known architect from Lansing named Darius Moon.

The character heart says the cabin is a cherished asset on its 180-acre property, which has over 25,000 annual guests of all ages.

The Woldumar Nature Heart not too long ago obtained a $5,000 grant from the MSUFCU Desk Drawer Basis.

“The Woldumar Nature Association is honored to receive this grant from the MSUFCU Desk Drawer Foundation in support of our 2024 year-end campaign. This annual fundraiser enables us to protect and maintain over 180 acres of public greenspace and helps us deliver exceptional environmental educational programming to more than 7,000 children in the coming year. We are grateful to the Foundation and look forward to continuing to serve the Greater Lansing community with their support,” stated Kevin Wernet, Govt Director.
