“That crowd was so ready to explode. It was so good, and we gave them nothing,” Izzo mentioned. “I almost got a technical to get the crowd going. I felt bad for them. I should have just got (a technical) and said, ‘Hey this is on me, fans. You guys were awesome. We weren’t very good.'”

“I told my team that with about four minutes to go in the huddle. I said, ‘You let down 15,000 people today,'” Izzo added postgame.

Due to his staff’s play, Izzo felt Stephens did a greater job at teaching then he did.

“My first key to the game was, are we mature enough to take the practice to the game? The answer was no we were not. So, that’s my chore now in the next five days.”

As for Stephens, having performed at MSU from 1989-93 and spent 19 seasons as an assistant coach for Izzo.

“It was a little weird to be on the opposite side,” Stephens mentioned. “It was weird, but it was fun. I’m proud of how my guys competed.”

Williamston Excessive Faculty graduate Max Burton, who received a state title with the Hornets in 2022, had ten factors for the Broncos within the loss.
